And here we go.
Today just started out as a normal Friday. Jenna played soccer, Bailey took a nap.
(Well tried anyways...) Whitney and Becca went to WalMart. The thorn of this episode--Ashley and Courtney have wandered out of our midst. They went home for the weekend.
(single tear.) Then Jenna put on her little children cowboy DI vest and headed to the Fall Fiesta to set up.
(after all she is the busy one.) The first half hour of her experience was spent stirring twenty eight pounds of
REFRIED BEANS. yum yum. She says she will "never eat them again in her life"
(complete with the nacho libre accent). Then to her excitement came
(the life of the party) Nia, Gish
(friends from EcclesC103 and Juni) and Bailey. Now, this may still seem like a very typical Friday night...until the band started playing.
And I quote: "The band
'Double or Nothing' came in with a roar...the crowd was screaming, they wanted more!" (-Jenna DeGering @ 3:01 AM) Okay so here's the deal.
(that was a deliberate tribute to Courtney) so the guitarist/vocalist's name was Nick and Nia and Gish immediately fell in love with him. And of course the four of us end up
front and center at this great concert. As Jenna and Bailey look around they notice the hilarious situation that is unfolding before their eyes. They are surrounded by girls
(and a few guys...) who are off beat clapping, wide-eyed, mouth opened, singing along to songs they don't know, sitting Indian style on the grass of a stake center, loving every minute of DOUBLE OR NOTHING! (Gish and Nia were definitely a part of this.) All we could do was laugh out loud and say to each other,
"OUR LIFE IS A SITCOM!" Eventually the whole band showed up... Derek (the bass player and pianist) and Matt (the violinist). Gish bought their five dollar C.D. (6 songs). So basically we became their
biggest fans.
After the institute party was long over, Jenna, (still at the stake center with her kiddie cowboy vest on)
invites the band to Brittney's party. Now here's where it gets crazy. They show up to Brittney's where we play games with balloons and make up songs and stories while keeping a
balloon in the air. Eventually the
cops kick us out we end up up the mountain with a half put out
bonfire and a mysterious
giant concrete slide, where at the top we play
roses and
thorns with the whole band and a bunch of other random people. Then we finish the night off with swaying in a circle, talking, and singing for a good 40 minutes straight. Thats when we decided that we really wanted to be their friends. (well it was actually before that...but oh well...)
Okay. So if you didn't believe that our life was a sitcom before this seemingly "normal" friday, then ALL THAT WAS CHANGED TONIGHT. What normal person hangs out with the BAND they just heard play (at an institute social of all places)?! Answer me that!
Our life IS a sitcom. (Jenna will have to add more details tomorrow but it is currently 3:30 AM and I want to go to sleep.)
over and out.
